What if your vote is an act of faith—not that it will fix everything, but that it can help move us toward a better future? Rabbi Josh Fixler connects God’s call to Abraham with our responsibility to take the next step today. Drawing on Torah and Jewish wisdom, he explores the distance between intending to act and taking action, the temptation of all-or-nothing thinking, and the work we carry forward from one generation to the next. His message is nonpartisan: Make a plan. Make your voice heard. Do your part, even when you cannot finish the work. At the conclusion of the sermon, Cantor Rollin Simmons sings “Shir l’Shalom” (Words: Yaakov Rotblit, Music: Yair Rosenblum; 1969), the song Rabbi Fixler references in his invitation not simply to wait for a better day, but to help bring it about.
