Barish Sanctuary . Proler Chapel
In this powerful sermon, Rabbi Josh Fixler shares the story of his grandfather seeing a sign at age 11 that read “Jews not wanted” in 1930s Berlin and connects it to the Torah’s urgent call to love the stranger. Rabbi Fixler and co-writer Scott Esserman explore what it means to carry “the heart of the stranger” in a world filled with xenophobia and fear. They invite us to enter the ruins, hear God’s quiet weeping like a dove, and become God’s ears, heart, and hands for all who are vulnerable.
