Join us for a savory dose of stories and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the ever-evolving foodie scene as we welcome Chris Shepherd, a Midwest-raised, James Beard Award-winning chef, Founding Director & Honorary Chairman of Southern Smoke Foundation, and visionary behind Houston’s celebrated food culture.

Chris has transformed the city’s culinary scene since opening Underbelly in 2012, championing local farmers and suppliers, and telling Houston’s story one plate at a time. From national accolades to his Emmy-winning show Eat Like a Local, Chris continues to spotlight the people and traditions that make our community extraordinary.

Russell Weil, beloved Houston food historian, author of Eat More Burgers, and voice of Houston’s culinary memory at Jewish Herald Voice and Buzz Magazine, will guide the conversation. With his wit and deep knowledge of our city’s history, Russell is sure to elevate the morning’s dish with Chris.

A delicious lunch to follow the program. It’s a celebration of food, culture, and community.
