Roots & Wings: Stories of Strength, Growth and Possibilities
Wednesday, August 27, 6:30 p.m.
Join us for an evening of entertainment and fellowship at Sisterhood’s opening dinner, Roots & Wings: Stories of Strength, Growth, and Possibilities, inspired by a familiar phrase emphasizing the importance of belonging and the freedom to explore and grow independently. “Roots” represents the secure foundation and connection that Sisterhood provides to the community, while “wings” symbolize our ability to venture out, learn, and develop our own talents.
This annual Sisterhood tradition kicks off an exciting year full of inspiring programming for members and welcomes guests interested in joining the Sisterhood.
The dinner will feature Lisa Falkenberg, a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and senior columnist at the Houston Chronicle. A dedicated mentor and volunteer, she has earned recognition from the Texas Legislature, the city of Houston, and numerous organizations, including the Texas AP Writer of the Year from the Associated Press. She was also among the “Women of Influence” honored in 2011 by the National Council of Jewish Women. She will share her passion for writing through commentary deeply rooted in her home state of Texas and inspired by her family and community. Her newsletter is now available online.
Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, celebrate, and be inspired by her journey and the many stories she has told.
A buffet dinner will precede the program. The cost to attend is $18 for Sisterhood members, non-members, and guests. The registration deadline is August 20; the cost will increase to $25 per person after August 20.
