Social Action

Calling all 50s and 60s Jewish singles in the Houston area!

“Better Together” – a community-wide Houston Jewish singles’ initiative for those in their 50s and 60s – will host a community service and social gathering at Congregation Beth Israel (5600 N. Braeswood Blvd, Houston, TX 77096).

We have partnered with Kids’ Meals, a local non-profit organization with a mission to end childhood hunger by delivering FREE healthy meals to Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children and through collaboration, provide their families with resources to end the cycle of poverty. Our morning will begin with a light breakfast prior to the project. We ask that all volunteers regardless of their vaccination status bring masks as we will be handling food while packing the lunches for Kids’ Meals. Gloves will be provided on-site.

To help us prepare, we ask that you RSVP by clicking here.

“Better Together” hosted its official launch party at Pinstripes in August with a plan to host bi-monthly gatherings. The next event will take place on Sunday, December 10 and will be a bus tour featuring a stop at different breweries throughout the Houston area. The sponsoring organizations and synagogues include: Congregation Beth Israel, Congregation Beth Shalom of the Woodlands, Congregation Beth Yeshurun, Congregation Brith Shalom, Congregation Emanu El, Congregation Shma Koleinu, the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, HCRJ and the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston.
