This summer, we invite you to connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories with our Emanu El community. We have a season full of exciting events for all ages — join us for community Shabbat dinners, a movie series celebrating Jewish life, culture, and storytelling, and more!
Unwind and welcome shabbat with friends old and new at our Community Shabbat Dinners. Our shabbat table is open to all!
On Friday, June 12, we will offer a special blessing as part of our Shabbat evening service for those going to camp this summer. After Shabbat, join us for an evening of delicious food, lively conversation, and community connection.
On Friday, July 3, experience our pre-July 4th celebration after Shabbat, with holiday-themed food and activities.
Finally, on Friday, August 14, join us for a back-to-school-themed Shabbat dinner.
Emanu El has a long history of volunteering in our community, from Mitzvah Day to standalone projects. This June, Emanu El Cares has five volunteer opportunities available during June, each focused on food insecurity of Houston families. Each has limited space available, so sign up soon!

Lights, Camera, L’Chaim celebrates Jewish life, culture, and storytelling through the magic of cinema. Each screening offers a chance to connect over stories that explore our community, identity, tradition, and resilience. Grab some nosh, raise a glass, and join us for an unforgettable cinematic toast to Jewish life — one film at a time.
June 4, 6:30 p.m.: Footnote is the story of a father and son who are rival professors in Talmudic Studies who share a complicated relationship.
July 9, 6:30 p.m.: Everything Is Illuminated is the story of a young Jewish man who, with the help of an eccentric local, endeavors to find the woman who saved his grandfather during WWII in a Ukrainian village that was ultimately razed by the nazis.
August 6, 6:30 p.m.: Women in Gold is the story of Maria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish refugee, who takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family.
