With more than 1,600 member households, our community is as diverse and dynamic as Houston itself — filled with individuals and families of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities who come together to learn, celebrate, and grow. We are deeply committed to the Jewish value of tikkun olam, repairing the world, through meaningful social action and advocacy for social justice in our city and beyond. From hands-on volunteer efforts to education and partnership with community organizations, we strive to make a lasting difference together.
Since its founding in 1944, Emanu El has stood for a love of Jewish culture and life expressed in prayer and programming; has supported Israel in all its nuance and complexity; has been committed to Jewish learning and social justice, and has supported freedom of expression from both pulpit and pew.
