Congregation Emanu El Sisterhood announces a laugh-your-socks-off evening at Congregation Emanu El on Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. followed by a sumptuous dessert reception.

Congregation Emanu El will host this remarkable evening, Sunset Blvd Comedy Club, honoring Sylvia Brody. The event, organized by Sisterhood Fundraising Vice-President Kathy Parven, welcomes the community to the evening’s festivities which include contributions to two significant organizations: Greene Family Camp and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Greene Family Camp is dedicated to creating fun, safe, and educational environments that foster personal and spiritual growth. Through its diverse programs, it aims to empower children, teens, and adults, encouraging them to better themselves and their communities. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society exists because there are people living with MS. Our vision is a world free of MS. Their mission is to cure MS while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives

The night promises laughter and entertainment with performances by two stand-up comedians, Max Rosenblum and Kristin Lindner plus a special (and entertaining!) tribute to Sylvia Brody, highlighting her exceptional contributions and dedication to the Temple and the community.

The evening’s honoree, Sylvia Brody, has devoted a lifetime of service to Emanu El and its Sisterhood. For 30 years, she has diligently prepared meals and programming for the Elders group, Sylvia served as the Sisterhood president for three terms and managed the very successful gift shop where so many come to shop. Sylvia’s passion for the Greene Family Camp ignited after participating in a family camp weekend hosted by Emanu El and she is thrilled that campers will benefit from this event.

Emanu El’s Sisterhood is renowned for various events and programs that reflect their commitment to making a positive impact through providing meaningful opportunities for learning and warm social relationships while supporting Emanu El in its endeavors to serve the congregation, the community and the world.

The Sunset Blvd Comedy Club event will be an unforgettable night, celebrating the spirit of community, service, and philanthropy, while shining a light on two worthy causes and honoring a woman whose dedication has been an inspiration to many. Join the Congregation Emanu El Sisterhood for an evening of joy, laughter, and meaningful contributions, as they pay tribute to Sylvia Brody and support the causes close to their hearts.

Starring Max Rosenblum and Kristin Lindner

Max Rosenblum entertained audiences with his self-deprecating and optimistically pessimistic outlook. He has appeared at San Francisco Sketchfest, the Asheville Comedy Festival, and on TED AI, and venues across the country, including the Kennedy Center (DC), Caroline’s on Broadway and Hollywood Laugh Factory.

Kristin Lindner made her national television debut on Nickelodeon’s NickMom’s Night Out. She is considered one of the funniest, most pragmatic voices of modern, adorably flustered femininity and with three adult daughters her “empty nest” humor is hilariously relatable!
