Lucy Mosbacher serves as Director of Helfman Religious School, where she first began teaching in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and a Master’s Degree in Jewish Education from Gratz College, as well as having completed the Mandel Teacher Educator Institute’s two-year course of study in Professional Leadership Development. Her leadership philosophy is driven by a dedication to Jewish education and an unwavering commitment to instilling a love of Judaism in her students. Lucy channels her deep love of Jewish learning into creating enriching educational experiences that make Jewish traditions both meaningful and accessible to the next generation.
In 2025, Lucy earned the title of Reform Jewish Educator (RJE), which is a prestigious professional designation awarded by a commission representing the field’s leading institutions — including Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, the Union for Reform Judaism, and the Central Conference of American Rabbis — to educators who have met rigorous academic and professional standards in Jewish education. Earned by fewer than 650 educators since its establishment in 1982, the RJE signifies a deep, credentialed commitment to excellence in Reform Jewish education.
Lucy and her husband Peter have three children, Bobby, James, and Hannah, and they are active members of Emanu El. In her free time, Lucy loves spending time with her children, gardening, needlepointing, and reading.
