Mental Health

Congregation Emanu El has partnered with Jewish Family Service (JFS) regularly to offered Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training as part of our congregation and the Houston Jewish community’s overall commitment to mental health.

In the MHFA course, you will learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

MHFA teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing mental health challenges can and do get better and use their strengths to stay well.

Participants will need to complete Part I online prior to taking part in the two-part Part II that will be offered on consecutive Tuesday evenings. The Tuesday evening sessions will be lead on Zoom by MHFA Certified instructors and there will be short breaks during the trainings.

Once participants complete the course, they will receive a certificate of completion valid for three years from the date of the course. Continuing education credits are also available with prior request.
