During our High Holy Days Cemetery Service at Emanu El Memorial Park, Rabbi Pamela Silk shares a moving reflection on grief, memory, and the sacred work of carrying those we love. Drawing on the image of the shofar of Rabbi Roy Walter, zt”l, and the Torah’s description of the Kohathites, Rabbi Silk explores a difficult but meaningful truth: grief is not something we simply set down or “get over.” Instead, little by little, we develop the emotional and spiritual strength to carry a particular person, a particular absence, and the love that remains. May the memories of those we love always be for blessing. Zichronam livracha.
