Sisterhood Book Review: "Moonglow" by Michael Chabon

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Save the date for Rabbi Josh Fixler's review of Michael Chabon's book,Moonglow. In 1989, Chabon travels to his mother's home in Oakland, California, to visit his terminally ill grandfather. With his tongue loosened by powerful painkillers and his memory stirred by the imminence of death, Chabon's grandfather shares recollections that his grandson has never heard before, uncovering bits and pieces of a history long forgotten. From pre-WWII South Philadelphia to the invasion of Germany by U.S. forces, from a Florida retirement village to New York's Wallkill prison, from the heyday of the space program to the twilight of the 20th century, the novel revists an entire era through a single life. A light dinner reception, hosted by Susan and Ed Septimus in honor of Emanu El readers, will precede the book review.
