EE75 Social Action: Kids' Meals

Tuesday, August 20, 2019 19 Av 5779

9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Congregation Emanu El has prepared over 100,000 meals for Kids’ Meals and will be celebrating its 12th anniversary of preparing lunches for this organization which helps combat childhood hunger in Houston. To honor the occasion and in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of the congregation, our usual Kids’ Meals volunteer chairs Carol & Barry Goodfriend will be joined by Julie Price to put together the morning’s activities. Following breakfast and a celebration of the synagogue’s partnership with Kids’ Meals led by the non-profit organization’s director, Beth Harp, and our clergy team, volunteers will set out to make significantly more sandwiches than the 1,000+ made monthly.

To reach our goal with enough help to go around, please register online (below). We will be submitting our anticipated count to Kids’ Meals on Monday, August 12 based on the volunteer count.

The goal of Kids’ Meals is to end childhood hunger by delivering free and healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston children 5 years and under who are facing debilitating hunger due to extreme poverty.

Chairs: Julie Price and Carol & Barry Goodfriend

Off-Site Activity (330 Garden Oaks Blvd.): Assist the Kids’ Meals delivery team with distributing meals to the under-resourced children’s homes.

Emanu El Activity: Pack lunches for immediate delivery in the Oshman Multi-Purpose Room. **good for children**

Drive: We will begin collecting lunch packing materials (sandwich & lunch bags, cutlery etc.) on May 15.
