This summer, we invite you to connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories with our Emanu El community. We have a season full of exciting events for all ages—join us for community Shabbat dinners, a nostalgic baseball-themed movie series, and a festive July 4th celebration!
Community Shabbat Dinners
Unwind and welcome shabbat with friends old and new at our Community Shabbat Dinners. Join us on June 13 and August 15 for delicious food and lively conversation—our table is open to all! (Cost is $15 for members and $18 for non-members.)
Summer Movie Series: For the Love of Baseball
Whether you love baseball, or just love a feel-good movie, join us for our baseball-focused Summer Movie Series. We have three movies planned (cost is $15/person and includes baseball-themed food.):
June 6: Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story, which celebrates Jewish major leaguer players, their contributions to the sport, and the impact and role of baseball in the lives of American Jews.
July 4: The Sandlot. “You’re killing me Smalls!” Don’t miss this showing of The Sandlot, an iconic coming-of-age movie about summer baseball, new kids in town, friendship, the joys of childhood, and the often bittersweet transition into adolescence. (The Sandlot will be shown during our July 4th celebration).
August 1: Field of Dreams. “If you build it, he will come.” This nostalgic story of a farmer who builds a baseball diamond in a cornfield and attracts the ghosts of baseball’s Shoeless Joe Jackson and the Chicago Black Sox is easily one of the most beloved baseball movies.
July 4th Celebration
“Blast off” on July 4th with our Independence Day Celebration! We’ll start with a community shabbat dinner, followed by a Tot Shabbat service and an Americana-themed shabbat service with a live band. After services, we’ll move into full celebration mode with games, music, trivia, a movie and fireworks! We hope to see you on the roof of the Gaylor Parking garage for fireworks, beginning at 9:45 p.m. Remember to bring your lawn chairs! (Cost: $15/person for shabbat dinner plus dessert and all activities; $5/person for all activities, excluding shabbat dinner.)
