Young Adults
Friends of Emanu El
The time has come for a bold new step in the development of Emanu El’s commitment to our Young Adults.
We want Emanu El to be a place where young adults come to find friends, to engage in study, to network for jobs, to have fun, to celebrate the Sabbath, to volunteer in the outside community together and so much more. We want to be a comfortable place for the young adult, age 22 and newly out of college and the young adult couple, age 37 with two kids.
We understand that an undertaking of this magnitude will have highs and lows in its infancy, but we believe in those famous ancient Jewish words of advice, “Build It and Young Adults will come.” Look out for the information as it comes into your home.
Join us for events. If you have children or grandchildren who are looking for just such an environment, send their information our way.
We have created a new and enthusiastic Young Adult Board,
and they are ready to help make this a synagogue where young adults will thrive.
Coming Up
“I Slept Through Sunday School, Now What?”, our Monthly Study Session, meets on the First Tuesday of every month at 7 pm in the Emanu El Library. Rabbi Haas will lead the discussion on the most controversial Jewish topics of the day. This is an opportunity to delve more deeply into Jewish issues than you have ever gone before, a class that is sure to enlighten, engage, and enliven.
Every Third Wednesday, our group will meet for a Monthly Business Networking Breakfast To RSVP for this event, please contact Rabbi Haas.
Meet us at Kenny & Ziggy’s on Post Oak Blvd. near the Galleria for some networking, noshing and insightful business discussion. The program begins promptly at 7:00 a.m. and an RSVP to Rabbi Haas or our e-vite is required to attend. If you are interested in sponsoring a breakfast, please contact Rabbi Haas.
Email for more info or to RSVP: rabbirh@emanuelhouston.org or our Young Adult Chair, Adam Miller, adam@InsurTexas.com
Amazing Day at Discovery and Minute Maid Parks
Kosher Hot Dogs, a thrilling game, sunny but not too hot weather, beer and soft drinks and of course, what would a Young Adult Event be without an international Dog Jumping competition. Thanks to everyone for coming out for the day. It was sincerely a wonderful way to end the year for us. Check out more pictures on facebook (Friends of Emanu El).
We have many opportunities for members ages 22-40 to get involved, including social action, religious, and other fun committees. Whether you’re fresh out of college, new to the Houston area, or have been a member of the Congregation for awhile, there are a number of ways to get involved, meet new people, and take a leadership role. Contact Rabbi Robert Haas at 713-529-5771 or at rabbirh@emanuelhouston.org or email our Young Adult Chair, Adam Miller, adam@InsurTexas.com. |
